Ken Griffey Jr. has never played in a World Series. Now he could get his chance.

The Chicago White Sox acquired Griffey from the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday, hoping the 38-year-old outfielder has enough left to help them keep their slim lead in the AL Central.

The Reds sent Griffey and cash to Chicago for reliever Nick Masset and Triple-A second baseman Danny Richar. The transaction was announced, half an hour before the 4 clock EDT deadline for making trades without waivers.

Griffey, his 600th Hit home run this season, agreed to the trade earlier in the day. But because the cash transaction involved, the transaction is not official until the Office of the Commissioner.

“Ozzie has the opportunity to field his best team, offensively and defensively, on a daily basis over the next two months,” White Sox GM Ken Williams said. “And this gives us a chance to get some of our middle-of-the-order hitters fresh produce and down the stretch.

“I spoke with Ken, and he is excited to come to Chicago to try to help us reach the post-season,” he said.

Griffey had the right to block a deal as a player with at least 10 years of major-league service, five with the same club. He had no form of compensation for waiving his no-trade.

The White Sox, the AL Central by 1 ½ games, Griffey would use mainly in the outfield, said the source. But they do not have an obvious place for Griffey, unless they make another trade.

The Sox are on the corners with Carlos Quentin in the left and Jermaine Dye in right. You could play Nick Swisher at first to open centre for Griffey, a step that would make the season the first baseman Paul Konerko and designated Hitter Jim Thome. But Griffey has not played center regularly since 2006.

Griffey, earning $ 12.5 million this season in the final year of his contract, is owed more than $ 4 million in salary, plus a $ 4 million buyout for 2009. The Reds agreed to pay part of the money left on Griffey contract to the transaction done.

The Reds were interested in dealing Griffey because of the size of his contract and their lot after the All-Star break, they again dropped to near the bottom of the NL Central, 13 1 / 2 games in the first place. The Reds have not had a winning season since 2000.

The trade that United Griffey with the Reds in 2000 was celebrated as a major breakthrough for the franchise, but proved to be far less than expected. After the 2002 season, former General Manager Jim Bowden tried to trade Griffey to San Diego for Phil Nevin, used his no-trade clause to block the transaction.

Bowden was trying to deal with the Yankees in 2003 before Griffey got hurt. The White Sox tried to acquire Griffey from the Reds in the trade deadline in 2005, but the trade was reportedly Reds NIXED of property for financial reasons.

Griffey batting gloves is .245 this season with a .355 on-base percentage, 15 home runs and 53 rbis in 359 at-bats.

Masset, righty was 1-0 with a 4.63 ERA in 32 games for Chicago. Richar hit .262 with nine Homer for Triple-A Charlotte.

Now with Ken Griffey Jr. coming to Chicago they expect to sell lot’s of Chicago White Sox tickets as they near post season play.

Manny Ramirez is going to Los Angeles.

The Red Sox finally parted ways with their disgruntled racket, sending him to the Los Angeles Dodgers in an amazing three-team trade Thursday, that Jason Bay to Boston.

Pittsburgh has the right of way and wound up with four young players. The deal was shortly before the 4 clock EDT deadline for trades without waivers.

As of early Thursday, it appeared Ramirez could be on his way to the Florida Marlins. But if those talks fizzled, the Red Sox and Pirates third partner found that in the Dodgers.

Foxsports.com and SI.com reported trade.

Ramirez, the MVP of the World Series 2004, remains one of baseball’s best hitters and experienced many great moments in October. But his relationship with the Red Sox soured again in recent months that the All-Star outfielder to approve the deal.

And now, Manny can be Manny on the west coast.

The Dodgers started the day one game behind first place Arizona in the NL West, and were looking for a big bat. Boston, in the middle of the AL East race and the hunt for a second straight World Series title, wanted a productive Hitter and in return got that in Bay.

The last-place Pirates, in search of young talent, gave their star outfielder and got reliever Craig Hansen and outfielder Brandon Moss from Boston and third baseman Andy LaRoche and pitcher Bryan Morris from the Dodgers.

LaRoche, moss and Hansen will be Pittsburgh and Morris will go to Class A Hickory.

The 36-year-old Ramirez was hitting .299 with a team leading Homer 20 and 68 rbis to Boston. He met his 500th Career home run this year and is one of only eight players to take at least 20 Homers in 14 consecutive seasons.

Ramirez is in the final season of a guaranteed eight years, $ 160 million. It also includes club options on 20 million U.S. dollars each for 2009 and the 2110th

On Wednesday, Ramirez criticized his team ESPN Reports to say: “The Red Sox do not deserve a player like me.”

“During my years here, I have seen how mistreated they have other great players, if they do not want them to try, the fans against them,” he said.

The often contentious relationship between Ramirez and the Red Sox also requesting him trades after 2005 and the 2006 season. You can buy Los Angeles Dodgers Tickets online from a trusted ticket broker listed with the BBB.

In this mixed-up and messed-up world, the words of the old song, Home, Home on the route, sometimes ring in my heart. They are hard to forget: Home, home on the range, where the deer and the antelope play, where never is heard a discouraging word and the skies are not cloudy all day. We usually hear more about this world of worries than his good things. Negative sold.

If the problem is a horrible crime, a failure of a politician or movie star, a car chase on a crowded highway, economic difficulties, etc, the media covers it with fevered madness. What happens if we could hear that more news is uplifting and the promotion of â € | news of what is good and right in our world? In 1947 it must have been many times when Jackie Robinson wanted in the place where never is heard a discouraging word.

That’s when he began his Major League Baseball career with the Brooklyn Dodgers. As the first African-Americans play in the major leagues since 1889, his presence brought the worst in other players and fans. Racial insults and provocations were on the agenda. The players in his team and opposing teams threatened not to play with him on the field. He and his family were threatened.

But Robinson had stood by him in his studies. In a game against the Cincinnati Reds, the abuse hurled at Robinson has been increased. At one point in the game, Robinson made a mistake, and was ashamed and depressed in the second. A player, and Dodger shortstop Pee Wee Reese captain, went to Robinson and put his arm around his shoulder.

That moment of encouragement and friendship was a turning point for Jackie Robinson. He would say that he saved his career. The Bible says, to encourage each other today, while today it is, so that each of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. (Hebrews 3:13) This verse lays before us an obligation to support the other in our lives.

Why? Without encouragement we tend to be tough and cynical, negative and pessimistic, discouraged and fearful. What would we have missed in the Major League Baseball, if people like Leo Durocher and Pee Wee Reese, Jackie Robinson not encouraged in these dark days of 1947? What could we miss if we do not the other, if we have a chance? Who needs encouragement? Just look around.

It may be a fellow Realtor, a client, your pastor or a member of your family. How can we encourage others? With things like these: a kind word, a thoughtful act, taking time to listen and to understand a hug or an arm around the shoulder, a smile, a call that a helpful note, a heartfelt thank-you or a prayer . If we take the time and efforts to promote the other, we can Pee Wee Reese difference in someone’s life!

It was Stoolball before the baseball lesson in the centuries before us, and the countries that for years tried, its assertion as the places where the origins of baseball had first begun is exciting. Times when baseball management was not even a thought, and games were played in the streets, children in different countries try to time. Today is our Baseball schooling can tell us that the original games may come from the eleventh century are still played with other variations as the America’s National Pastime. Before it was baseball, it was a series of different names in the beginning. One of the first that comes to mind is the game of Stoolball. The first day of the Stoolball was found in southern England around the 1330s. However, as time has passed, it was not until 1621, that the game its way to North America, first played in Plymouth. At the beginning, England’s version was mainly played by milkmaids, and although today there are not many people playing it more, you can still find Stoolball Leagues around Sussex. It is still played by mostly women, it was almost exactly 700 years ago. In addition to the original farmers played that game in the rule tours around Easter. Today you can find stroke-player, a World Series championship trophy in the game of baseball, but then the price was something called tansy pie, a tasty treat that was during the Easter, the traditional values of dealing with immortality. Certainly not as prestigious, but then it would have been possible, spiritually. The game itself plays a diameter almost as long as a big area NFL today. There is no evidence for a settlement, provided the games existence, but if there is a winner, we know it must have been some kind of rules. Over the years progressed, rules were to create leagues and major events such as baseball is today. The easiest way to explain the game is that there is a square wooden “Wicket” that the dough is trying to defend. The jar or “bowler” throws the ball underhand with the aim of the dough press needs to score runs with a bat in the form of a large ping-pong paddle. You can then dart between the other wickets for more runs. If you play baseball, you know how homeruns work, but in Stoolball, a homerun based on how far you get. They do not count as a solo homerun (they are not even mentioned), a hit on the border in the area counts than 6 runs and a bounce off the border and then rolls past than 4 runs. Definitely different then baseball, as we know it today. Stoolball uniforms were of a different kind of years that women wear dresses and hats, which is very scary. In a 1656 picture about women found themselves wore suits, while looks, resulting in a racket or ball boy wore a suit and hat as he holds a Wicket in the hand. It was a game for the upper class people, or better known to some as “yuppies.” When parts of the game came to America, it had already been altered into something else requires that the four bases and people are thrown away by getting most of the ball. It would be like a game with the whiffle ball today and throw them on the runners to help them out. Children have played games in the school Kickball for the year with a basketball size lightweight rubber ball can be thrown at runners. So it’s pretty much a mixture of the two games form part in one. If you sit back and reflect on many games, which will be played today Modern variations of popular games that were played hundreds of years. What initially as a game was played that tansy pie has been divided into a game will be played by children and adults around the world. The baseball sport that not only pastime for the United States in the official rules were in 1845, but is a booming economy today. Baseball school has taught us to look back on the legacy of the game to win when nothing meant more than the food. If $ 25 million per year, about as much money as in the world (probably not) or if it is not such a thing as baseball management bets on their own team. The only thing Stoolball, that the people in the 1300s was the joy and a sense of immortality.

The Brooklyn Dodgers are one of the most storied and fabled teams in all baseball history. Most famous for their second baseman, Jackie Robinson breaks the color barrier in baseball not only, but all professional sports, the Dodgers were one of the first teams to join what was then the upstart National League. The Brooklyn Dodgers baseball club was founded in 1883 and joined the now-former American Association for the following year, she won the American Association pennant in 1889 and joined the National League in 1890.
The Dodgers tried a variety of nicknames before it finally stuck, as they were originally Brooklyn Atlantic, and later the Brooklyn Grays. The New York City Press was even calling it the “Brooklyn Bridegrooms” when many of the players had gotten married in quick succession. The team earned the nickname “Trolley Dodgers” when they played in East Park during the 1890s, as the fans and players had trouble accessing the ballpark because of the scarcity of trolley lines in Brooklyn at the time.

Early Dodger teams played in two ball parks - Eastern Park and Washington Park - before arriving in Ebbets Field. She won National League flags in 1941, 1947, 1949, 1952 and 1953 and were defeated all five times by the New York Yankees. Thus, the baseball immortal slogan “wait until next year!” was born. The only Brooklyn Dodger team always wins the World Series did so in 1955 at Yankee Stadium.

In 1902, Charles Ebbets went deeply into debt, the Brooklyn Dodgers. He invested to replace Washington Park, with the title so-Ebbets Field is located in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, the Dodgers’ home until their move to Los Angeles. Ebbets acquired land, until he owned the entire block; Ebbets Field opened its gates on April 9, 1913. The team had little success until “player development genius” Branch Rickey was hired, then the Dodgers to a multi-candidate for the National League championship. Ebbets Field to host the 1949 All Star Game and the ballpark and the Dodgers’ In Los Angeles were in a whole series of Ken Burns’s acclaimed documentary, Baseball addition, Arthur Miller’s classic American drama Death of a Salesman references Ebbets Field. After moving the Dodgers to Los Angeles, Ebbets Field was demolished on 23 February 1960.

Perhaps the best known and most historically significant aspect of the Brooklyn Dodgers was the breaking the color barrier with young, talented Jackie Robinson. Winner of the first ever Rookie of the Year Award and a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, Robinson ended almost 80 years of segregation in baseball. Jackie Robinson, at UCLA and became the first black athlete to earn Varsity letters in four sports - baseball, football, basketball, and track. He later served in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. On 15 April 1947, Robinson was the first African American player for a Major League Baseball team. He received the Major League minimum of $ 5000, his rookie year, while he also played first base (Robinson played second base for most of his career). Jackie Robinson played on six World Series teams, six consecutive All-Star Game nominations and won the National League MVP Award in 1949. He retired on 5 January 1957, and became a political activist until his death on 24 October 1972. Robinson was posthumously with the Congressional Gold Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his key role in the American civil rights movement. On 15 April 1997, the 50th Anniversary of his debut, Major League Baseball retired his jersey number, 42

After the 1957 season, the controversial Brooklyn Dodgers moved to Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Dodgers have won the World Series five times since its relocation in 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981 and 1988.

VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland said fans should be looking for a meeting of his previous band, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, in the coming months. The singer announced in a Corsican appearance this past Saturday (January 19), in an all-star gala event for the AROD Family Foundation. The event took place at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in South Beach, Florida. Hosts included third base Yankees Alex Rodriguez and his wife Cynthia, who founded the non-profit organization to support programs focused on improving the quality of life, education and mental health for families in difficulty.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS guitarist Dean DeLeo and bassist Robert DeLeo confirmed the band in 2003, divided following the publication of the group’s largest package-hit, “Thank You”.

“It was time to move on to other things,” said Dean Guitar One magazine at the time. “Life and personalities and brotherhood took his Corsican.”

“Dean and Eric [drummer] [Kretz] and myself, I think, all feel a sense of sadness, relief, anger, melancholy about it,” said Robert. “But to try to go to achieve something with this band after we have already peaked is a bit ‘heavy. There is a factor of cheese with 40 boys hit trying to recapture glory.

“There is no way to go out, but”.

Weiland was expected to appear in a court in Los Angeles of last Thursday (January 17), where his recent DUI case was to be continued. The singer was charged with driving under the influence of drugs after being pulled over by police at the end of November.

VELVET REVOLVER will begin a new tour of the United States on January 24 in Chicago, with dates confirmed by February 9.

The Mariners lost one of their first targets pitching, the Japanese free agent Hiroki Kuroda, who agreed Saturday on a three-year contract to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The agreement will be worth $ 35.3 million, according to mlb.com. The Dodgers will introduce Kuroda today during a press conference at Dodger Stadium.

The Mariners’ pursuit of Kuroda included a trip to Japan to meet with him in early December by the general manager and manager Bill Bavasi John McLaren.

“We worked hard on this and gave our best shot,” said McLaren by telephone Saturday. “We would have liked to have had him, but we have to go forward and try our next option.”

The Mariners are thought to have offered a similar contract Kuroda as Dodgers, perhaps even more so for money. The Kansas City Royals offered a deal of four years, and the Arizona Diamondbacks are also in the running.

Kuroda, but settled on the Dodgers, whose closer, Takashi Saito, is a good friend. One of the advisers Kuroda, Shigetoshi Hasegawa, the former Mariners’ pitcher, also lives in Southern California.

The sea had hoped that their history with Japanese players, and the presence of Ichiro and, in particular, catcher Kenji Johjima, Kuroda sway.

However, Seattle’s hopes appeared to dim earlier this week, when Kuroda flew from Japan to Los Angeles, canceling plans to visit all its future city. One of his agents Kuroda insisted that he was still to make his mind and was still mulling offers, but that ended with the agreement Saturday.

“He heard only he and his family could assimilate faster and be more convenient to Los Angeles,” said Steve Hilliard, Kuroda co-agent, in a telephone interview.

“The sea was very professional throughout the process. Their exercise was taken very seriously. They have done everything they could have possibly done, and done well.

“It is not only a cliché, in this case - money was not the driving force in its decision. Had more lucrative offers elsewhere.”

The sea will now have to turn in other directions to achieve their goal of a rotation upgrade. They are still pursuing an exchange of Baltimore’s Erik Bedard. Free agents still on the market include Kyle Lohse and Carlos Silva.

“We have other options,” said McLaren losing Kuroda. “We had a different game plan, if it did not work, and that the point where we are now. We’ve got some coals in the fire. We will only see where we doorway. Bill’s got some things going.”

Assistant general manager Lee Pelekoudas agree to the sea were ready to act if Kuroda went elsewhere.

“We are going down, not just a path,” he said. “We are going to parallel paths, investigating more things.”

Kuroda, 32, was 12-8 with a 3.56-deserved medium term last season for Hiroshima. He led the Central League with 15 wins in 2005 and won the title in ERA (1.85) in 2006.

Kuroda has a lifetime 103-89 record with a 3.69 ERA in 11 seasons, all with Hiroshima. And ‘work, with 74 complete games in 244 career starts. He is generally regarded as a scout from middle-of-the-rotation pitcher, but many people felt baseball was the best available free-agent pitcher in a weak class. You can buy Dodgers Tickets for all Dodger games at Dodgers Stadium as well as all away baseball games.
